T. Victor Edwards

Character.Leadership.Culture.Results.
T. Victor Edwards, a former SVP at Merck, is a leadership practitioner whose thinking has been shaped by more than thirty-five years of experience in executive leadership, organizational transformation, consulting, coaching, and board service.
Â
He has worked in the rooms where consequential decisions are made and experienced firsthand the challenges leaders face in translating their character, values, and intentions into leadership behavior and organizational results.

After graduating magna cum laude from North Carolina A&T State University in 1982, he pursued executive education at Harvard, Northwestern, and Southern Methodist University.
Â
T. Victor's understanding of leadership has been formed as much by experience as by education. By observing how leaders respond under pressure, how their behavior shapes organizational culture, and how culture influences results.

These experiences have reinforced a central conviction: character is the basis for leadership, leadership is character on display, and culture is shaped by the behaviors leaders model and the behaviors they permit.

From the Field to the Executive Conference Room
Edwards dedicated more than twenty-five years to Merck & Co., Inc., culminating in his role as Senior Vice President. He directed national sales organizations, oversaw operations for a premier pharmaceutical division, and managed multi-billion-dollar joint venture partnerships.
Â
Throughout his tenure, he navigated major product launches, market shifts, and customer care initiatives while establishing robust sales compliance programs.
Â
These experiences gave him a firsthand understanding of what leadership demands when the stakes are high, decisions carry significant consequences, and pressure is unavoidable.
Â
He learned that leading at scale requires more than business acumen; it requires the character and moral courage to make difficult decisions, hold to what matters, and build teams and cultures that can perform long after the leader has moved on.
Founder and Managing Partner — Thompson Consulting Group
FROM EXPERIENCE TO PRACTICE
Â
In 2008, Edwards established Thompson Consulting Group, a strategic consultancy based in Philadelphia. He partners with C-suite executives across Fortune 500 corporations, startups, and nonprofits to facilitate organizational transformation and executive growth.
As a Certified Master Facilitator for both the Corporate Executive Board and Challenger Inc., he has worked with leaders facing the practical challenges of leading organizations, developing executives, and navigating change.
This work has provided another perspective on leadership—one that complements his experience in the executive suite with the opportunity to observe, challenge, and coach leaders as they confront their own moments of pressure.
Â
His approach combines disciplined leadership development with the realities leaders face every day. The result is a perspective grounded not simply in what leadership should be, but in what leaders actually experience when the stakes are high.
Governance Across Every Sector
Edwards serves as an Independent Board Member of Clemens Family Corporation, a $3 billion protein and food manufacturing company where he sits on the Audit Committee. His board experience spans more than two decades and includes public companies, private firms, technology startups, healthcare organizations, financial institutions, and nonprofits — giving him a cross-sector perspective that informs everything he teaches about organizational leadership.
T. Victor Edwards is a devoted Christian; his faith is not separate from his professional career—it is the very foundation of his leadership and work.
Faith That Informs Everything
Faith in Action
As a member of the diaconate, T. Victor has spent twenty-five years teaching Sunday school to teenagers. He was serving the next generation long before he had a public platform. This commitment to the local church proves his belief that true leadership is rooted in service.
This legacy of service shapes his approach to development. He emphasizes that genuine influence is built through humility and a consistent presence rather than executive title alone. For T. Victor, faith is a public demonstration of one’s deep commitment to the well-being of others.
Conviction and Character
His belief that character serves as the bedrock of enduring leadership is more than a formula; it is a personal conviction. It was forged through decades of spiritual walk and observing the fallout when leaders abandon the values that defined them.
Driving Fight Like David
This conviction inspired him to write Fight Like David. It fuels every coaching session and keynote he delivers. T. Victor effectively bridges the gap between secular executive excellence and sacred vocational integrity, helping leaders honor their calling in every sphere.
